Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Digital X-Rays

How can we help you?

At the office of Jeffrey J. Tibbs, DDS, patient education is the cornerstone of our practice. We know from experience that educated patients generally enjoy healthier smiles because they understand how their oral health affects their overall health and quality of life.

We always have time for your questions because we don't expect you to be an expert on your oral health. Dr. Tibbs and our team are always more than happy to explain what we need to do and why we recommend a certain procedure. In addition to answering your questions, we also use state-of-the-art technology like digital x-rays and intraoral cameras that allow you to be an active participant in the process.

Here are a few of the questions we hear most often from our patients. You probably have some of your own that aren't shown here, so please don't ever hesitate to call our office at (336) 765-7477 or use our convenient online contact form.

Digital X-Rays

X-Ray Example | Top Dentist 27103We understand our patients’ concerns about the frequency of dental x-rays. However, x-rays have always been one of the most valuable diagnostic procedures in dentistry.

This is because x-rays allow us to see deep inside your teeth to detect problems long before they cause you discomfort. Developments in technology in the past few decades have made the process safer than ever before using state-of-the-art digital x-rays.

Benefits of Dental X-Rays

One of the most important benefits of digital x-rays is that they expose you to significantly less radiation than traditional film x-rays – some estimates say as much as 90%. Since modern x-rays use digital technology, they produce detailed, high-resolution images that are sent to our secure in-house network.

We can view these images together on your chairside monitor, and Dr. Tibbs can point out in detail what the problem is and why treatment is necessary. Understanding exactly what’s happening with your oral health empowers you to make confident, informed decisions about treatment that you are comfortable with.
